The Altamirano family live in San Pedro Sula, Honduras where they serve as directors of Anchor of Hope Ministry. This multifaceted ministry shares the hope of Jesus Christ with vulnerable children, families, and communities through a children’s home, a transition home for the youth aging out of the children’s home, a K–9 scholarship school for at-risk children, a water provision program for families without running water, children’s evangelism, and outreach efforts that bring both humanitarian aid and the Gospel to rural communities.

In 1997, fresh out of college, Angie moved to Honduras for what was intended to be a 3 month volunteer effort. She was so moved by the vast need, especially amongst the children, that she did not hesitate when the Lord called her to stay and serve full-time. In September of 2000 she opened Hogar Esperanza (Hope House) a refuge for orphaned, abandoned, and abused children. Ten years later, she married Eduardo. Shortly afterward they began expanding the ministry to what is now known as Anchor of Hope Ministry where they serve alongside of their children, Nohemy and Danny.

We are passionate about sharing the hope of Christ in practical ways, helping others see their value and purpose in Him. Part of this includes involving the youth from our children’s home and school in outreach efforts. It is powerful to watch a young person who comes from a difficult and even impoverished background serve others and realize their worth in God’s Kingdom and that He can and wants to use them to make a meaningful impact in the world.
