Gina Helms leads Prism, a registered 501(c)(3) ministry which has been operating in Tanzania since 2007. Together with Tanzanian leaders and international partners, she works alongside communities to meet both spiritual and practical needs with a focus on evangelism, safe water, public health, and education. Prism brings practical solutions and the message of Jesus to areas with significant spiritual and physical needs.

What began through exposure to different cultures and faiths during her university years grew into a long-term commitment to ministry and community development among unreached areas. She bring a unique combination of technical and theological training to her role, holding a degree in computer science, a masters in biblical studies, and a DMin.

Gina shares that, “One of our greatest joys is the commitment we have made to a village called Endagulda among the largely unreached Datooga tribe (population 3,300). Since 2022, we dug a deep water well and built a cattle trough. We also built a church at the well site. We have had taken teams each year to do evangelism and pastors’ conferences with salvations, deliverance, and healings, and we have ministered to children in schools. The people are growing and changing before our eyes!”

Other projects include training and deploying Community Health Workers (CHWs). These are trusted, knowledgeable frontline health personnel who typically come from the communities they serve. CHWs expand access to coverage and care and help to improve health outcomes. The program equips village CHWs with required skills and education they need to perform their daily activities in serving their communities.
