Teach One for Christ in Scotland is based on John 13:14-15 as a way of daily, humble service unto God.
We (Kevin and Jennifer Teachey) live in the Highlands of Scotland in Nairn, where I help pastor the Nairn Church of God. The spiritual need is very great in this place where Charlie Chaplin loved to vacation back in the day, as only 300 hundred out of 12,000 individuals (2.5 %) attend church. So how do we reach those who do not see their need for salvation? We do so by getting to know local merchants, presenting in the schools, praying for and discipling individuals, preaching the Word, evangelizing by passing out tracts, and, of course, by sharing real Christian love.
Our purpose is to dedicate our lives to spreading the Gospel here in Nairn and to help pastor this small multicultural church that includes families from Nigeria (by way of South Africa), Jamaica, Zimbabwe, and India.
We chose John 13:14-15 as our ministry theme. The passage describes how Christ, our Teacher, showed us the way by humbly washing dirty feet as an example of God’s mercy. Teach One for Christ is our project name because that is our goal: to teach one soul at a time for the glory of God.
In a country that birthed revivals and witnessed anointed men of God like John Knox, Robert Murray M’Cheyne, David Livingstone and Duncan Campbell, there is currently a dearth of spiritual vitality. The old Scotland and the woke Scotland compete in battles that rage worldwide. Yet, we have been told our excitement is “a breath of fresh air,” as we minister to our church and other churches in the area. We walk with each individual and family. Our neighbors (including an atheist) seek us out for conversation, and we listen.
My wife has her Master’s Degrees in Biblical Counseling from Maranatha Baptist University, and I have my undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Lee University. In addition, we both completed intensive ministry training internships years ago. Now with a wonderful wife and two kids, Ryan and Quinn Noelle, my vision is to live and die in Scotland. I am an Ordained Minister in the Church of God, and my wife is an Exhorter.
We are truly committed to this work. Your prayers are needed most. Any financial support would also be appreciated and would only be used to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ here in Scotland.
