September 28, 2021

Born on January 23, 1953, Medical Missionary, Olga Ruth Gonzalez passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 28, 2021.

World Missions Director Dr. David M. Griffis and Assistant Director Dr. M. Thomas Propes express their sincerest regrets to the family in their loss. Dr. Propes further stated: “Sister Gonzalez was a stellar example of servant leadership on the mission field. She has now heard the Lord say, ‘Enter in, my good and faithful servant. Enter into the joys of the Lord.’”

Olga studied at the Church of God Bible School in Puerto Rico. Among serving in other various ministries, she was the director of Casa Shalom (1986-1988) and a writer for the adult Sunday School curriculum at Editorial Evangelica in Cleveland, Tennessee. Olga earned a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language from Regent University. She served in Spain as a Medical Missionary Intern (2006-2008); in Spain (Morocco) as Medical Missionary (2008-2016); Associate Medical Missionary in Latin America (2016-2018); and in Spain/Andorra/Morocco (2018 to present).

In recent years, Olga was beleaguered by health issues but grateful she avoided the virus. Hers was a deep and affirming faith and realized only God has the last word in any situation.

Olga carried a great burden for Muslims. Her observation of late was: “During the pandemic, we are witnessing the powerful blowing of the Holy Spirit, turning what seems to be a spiritual tragedy into an awakening in God’s people.”
