Monthly Budget and Financial Needs

Our monthly budget includes:

Basic salary
Correspondence
Rent
Children's schooling
Auto expense
Utilities
Travel

Our expenses here in this large city have greatly increased over the last few years by the devaluation of the dollar exchange rate.  Our rent and other expenses have continued to increase since the dollar does not buy what it used to purchase.  The cost of living in São Paulo is greater than the cost of living in New York!  (Imagine some places in the world like Japan or Taiwan where the expenses are double what we experience!)  In spite of the additional expenses, the Lord has been faithful to us and we have been able to meet our budget.  We are so grateful for the churches and individuals that have given consistently and sacrificially so that we can continue to proclaim the Good News in Brazil.  You have been a part of the miracle that the Lord has worked in our lives!

All contributions to our family and ministry should be sent to our World Missions Account number 060-0063 designated specifically to John and Kathy Hayes Ministries.  Special love offerings and birthday gifts should be specifically designated as a “special love offering” in order to be received above and beyond our regular salary.  These contributions are also tax-deductible.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our budget or possible contributions.

Perhaps the local church could commit to providing a part of one of the monthly expense items in our basic budget, such as $ 50.00 a month for correspondence or $ 75.00 a month for our children’s schooling. 

As the Apostle Paul states in Philippians 4:10-20 concerning giving and receiving, we believe that the local church and the missionary are co-laborers together in the harvest.  The local church needs the missionary in order to fulfill the Great Commission to “go into all the world and preach the gospel."  In turn, the mission of world evangelization depends upon the local church in order to send forth laborers through the giving of finances, resources, personnel, and prayer support.  The mutual or reciprocal relationship of giving and receiving between the missionary and the local church results in the nations of the world glorifying and praising God.  Thus, we believe that we are an extension of the local church reaching out to the lost in Brazil.  Through our ministry of preparing missionaries that will be sent out into the harvest, your blessings are multiplied as these new missionaries carry the gospel around the world.

Our commitment to you as a sending church includes:

·       consistent prayer on your behalf

·       communication and information about our family and ministry

·       visits and fellowship with the local church during our furlough

·       expressions of gratitude for your giving and sacrifice

Special Request

I would like to invite you to prayerfully consider supporting our family and our ministry on a consistent, monthly basis.  I would encourage you as a church to set a goal for monthly support that could range from $ 20.00 to $ 200.00.  In the words of Corrie Ten Boom, “I’d rather have a dollar which the Lord directs you to give, than a thousand which He hasn’t.”  The amount is not important, but I believe that the consistency is!  By giving each month on a regular basis, it will help remind you to pray for us on a consistent basis.  Your continual support will allow us to remain on the field for our entire four-year term.

Remember as Paul said in Philippians 4:17, what we desire is not just your financial support, but that you would abound in good fruit.  Your prayers are very important, but prayers alone will not send out the missionaries or keep them on the field.  Please pray about being a part of our support team!
