Annual Missions Promotional Sundays Three church-wide promotions are made each year by Church of God World Missions. The missions office will mail to each pastor and each individual who has made a gift to World Missions in the past two years a letter telling about the special promotion and inviting their participation. This mailing generally goes out about a month before the special day. The promotions are as follows.
 Love the World Sunday
The Sunday nearest Valentine’s Day in February is designated “Love the World Sunday.” The income received from this promotion is used for the support of missionaries who are unable to raise money for themselves. This includes missionaries who cannot leave their field because of the importance of their work, missionaries who are in closed countries and missionaries who are not fluent in English.
Humanitarian Sunday
The first Sunday in June is generally designed “Humanitarian Sunday” and donors are requested to give an offering for disaster relief. The church around the world typically faces anywhere from six to 10 (sometimes more) natural disasters each year, such as floods and hurricanes, and World Missions is called upon to provide relief. This offering funds these needs.

Christ’s Birthday
The second Sunday in December is “Christ’s Birthday offering,” gifts requested from individuals in the amount of the year, e.g., in 2009 the gift would be $20.09. This offering is used to fund unbudgeted, emergency needs. Christ’s Birthday income has been used to return missionaries for family funerals, to give short-term relief to missions field pastors’ widows, to fund emergency medical care, and to augment disaster relief efforts.
